1.) How long have you been with Homestead?: Since July 2014, but my first day on the property was move-in day.

2.) What is your role at Homestead?: General Manager

3.) What is your proudest moment at HA/HU?: Completing Turn and Move-In 2015/2016 with no major issues or calls to home office. That’s huge!

4.) What is your favorite part about working at HA/HU?: I wake up in the morning ready to come to work because of my awesome staff and the awesome property I have the honor of managing.

5.) What do you like to do outside of work?: I love to travel and I share that love with my daughter as my parents did with me. Our next trip is to Cancun and then to Morocco where her father’s family is from.

6.) The Ranch at Star Pass has had tremendous renewal momentum thus far for 2016-17. What do you attribute your success to?: Every effort and outreach is personalized & fun. My staff works in teams and the competition is real but the end goal is that the property succeeds.

7.) You have a reputation for building a tight-knit, well functioning team. What’s your secret?: It is no secret that you have to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. No favoritism. Remain consistent, firm and fair. Give your staff tools to succeed, but also empower them.

8.) The SP team has made huge progress in garnering positive reviews over the last 4 months. What has your process been for improving this area of your business?: We are super proud of this as we work really hard for our customers! We are thankful the company implemented Modern Messaging/Community Rewards to give the many residents that appreciate our efforts an easy and fun forum to express publicly.

9.) What is your favorite holiday movie?: Forever and always the old Rudolph and Frosty movies – makes Christmas complete sitting down and watching something from my childhood.

10.) Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.: I served in the Peace Corps during Desert Storm and I was stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in the medical unit. However, when I returned I changed my major from pre-med to business. I couldn’t hang 🙁


Lauren Rayner Promoted to Leasing & Marketing Manager at NorthPointe

Rayner has worked as an ACE at The Ranch at Star Pass, and a Leasing Professional at both The U and NorthPointe. NorthPointe Community Manager, Janette Hanson, said, “She started with Homestead U back in July of 2012 as an ACE. She has established herself as an awesome Leasing Consultant, and with hard work and dedication, I am very pleased to introduce her as our new Leasing and Marketing Manager. Congratulations Lauren!!”

The Ranch at Star Pass Community Manager, Rachael Nelson, said “THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY!!! BOOOO LOL – Lauren, I am super proud of you and The Ranch isn’t the same without you. We are all so excited for you and know you will be great!”

Said Rayner, “I am excited to take on the position because I believe it is important to see things from many perspectives, and I am thrilled to be able to gain another viewpoint. My ultimate goal is to help the employees grow individually and as a team. To demonstrate success with that would benefit NorthPointe’s growth in so many ways.”


Homestead U Welcomes Rachael Nelson to The Ranch at Star Pass in Tucson.

R_NelsonRachael Nelson joins the team as Community Manager of The Ranch at Star Pass in Tucson, Az. Nelson’s originally from Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from The University of Houston, Rachael entered the apartment industry.

After becoming a Regional Manager in 1995, Rachael has mostly focused on re-positioning and renovating distressed conventional portfolios. This included properties in Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee. She moved to New Orleans two months after Hurricane Katrina for those renovations. She has managed seven communities, 2200 units, in three different cities.

Rachael is a proud breast cancer survivor, 5 years this last month. She is a strong advocate of early detection and spends much of her free time fundraising and raising awareness.

In her free time, she enjoys to travel. Both foreign and domestic.
