Harry shared a couple changes and memories with us during his time with University Village

• They had 3 old style school buses, one was standard shift and I was the only person who could drive it. There was only one stop on campus, and four or five drivers. We now have seven buses, ten drivers and seven stops on campus.

• My favorite memory was when we purchased a brand new bus from Indiana and I got to drive it back to the property. This was bus #4, a 1997 Carpenter, which is still in service today. Older employees may remember it being called “Graffiti” because there was a mural of Ohio Stadium and a portrait of Gordan Gee and Woody Hayes painted on it. The bus has since been painted to match all the others.

University Village Maintenance Techs Earn Promotions

Posted by:

Josh Harris (left) and Thomas Gullett of University Village both recently accepted Maintenance Supervisor positions with Homestead America.

University Village Maintenance Techs Josh Harris and Thomas Gullet both recently accepted promotions with Homestead America. Harris accepted the position as Maintenance Supervisor at Winchester Oaks in Columbus. And Gullet was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor at The Village at Appian Way in Gahanna.

Both have been held in high regards as Maintenance Techs at University Village during their time there. Homestead America Regional Manager, Cheryl Davis, said that they are both excited to have their own properties to take care of.

University Village Maintenance Supervisor, Donna Grove, said of Gullett “He is truly a success story for our company – having started out as a painter working for someone else, moving to a maintenance trainee and grounds, becoming a full fledged maintenance tech, and now moving on to his own property.  It shows that with hard work, you really have a lot of potential with Homestead!”

Edmond Rodriguez promoted to Maintenance Supervisor at Northpointe

Posted by:

Congratulations to Edmond Rodriguez on his promotion to Maintenance Supervisor at NorthPointe Student Apartments!

Edmond was born in Visalia, CA, and has been in maintenance for 30 years. He began with the California Department of Recreation and worked there for 11 years, which included a promotion to Lead Tech.  This prepared him for his role of Maintenance Director for a nursing home, a position he held for 7 years. After moving to Arizona with a home development company and pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit owning his handy business, Edmond moved into the apartment industry in May of 2012.
Edmond came on board with Homestead U when the company acquired The Ranch at Star Pass, and transferred to NorthPointe in January.  Edmond has been a huge asset to the property during the transitions within the maintenance department; we are very happy to have him as part of the NorthPointe and Homestead UTeam!
